Star Riding Academy that offered dressage based lessons and therapeutic riding, began working on her jumping with Jennifer, the two women found they worked well together and eventually decided to join their complementary businesses.
The result, Middleburg Riding, provides an inclusive range of equestrian instruction. “ C o m b i n i n g o u r businesses makes what we offer ideal,” Jennifer says. She explains that Teresa’s focus is on beginning riders and children while Jennifer works with advanced riders and adults. Teresa is a PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding instructor, permitting her to teach therapeutic riding (which is offered here), and both women are SafeSport® certified. In addition, Middleburg Riding upholds a safety-minded attitude for their 13 horses and ponies, providing them with excellent care and meticulously maintained facilities.
Jennifer Lee grew up riding ponies in Fauquier County, rode for the St. Lawrence University equestrian team, managed Yale University’s riding and summer camp programs, and qualified in jumping for the 2008 Olympics. So it was no surprise that she launched a business focused on equestrian jumping on her family’s farm in The Plains about a decade ago.
They are also strong proponents of providing a positive and supportive environment for everyone. “At the end of a lesson, it’s common for students to say to each other, ‘Great job today!’” says Jennifer, pointing out that positivity is demonstrated by more than just the instructors.
Middleburg Riding offers a year-round lesson program that includes both riding and horsemanship, summer camps, clinics, and in-house shows, as well as an Interscholastic Equestrian Team and local show team.
